Coach Lucas begins his eighth year in Stillwater. He will be coaching the
freshman team. He previously coached at Stillwater Junior High, where he
coached 9th Grade Running Backs, Corners, Kickers/Punters, and served as
Special Teams Coordinator. Coach Lucas boasts a high football I.Q. and has the
ability to coach on both sides of the ball and also the kicking game. He was a part
of the OSU football program, in the video department, for 5 years. He was able to
travel to 4 consecutive bowl games. This experience also allowed Coach Lucas to
learn many techniques, drills, and what it takes to be a successful coach.
Coach Lucas is originally from Austin, TX, where he earned two varsity letters as a
Tight End for the football team as well as two varsity letters for the soccer team.
Coach Lucas is a 2008 graduate of Oklahoma State University where he earned a
B.S. degree in Physical Education, and upon graduation he started his Masters.
After a year, Coach Lucas started his teaching career at Lincoln Academy in
He moved to Stillwater Junior High School in the fall of 2010 where he is currently
a math teacher. During his time at the Junior High, Coach Lucas has also
coached wrestling. He has coached multiple Jr High state champs and placers.
Coach Lucas is currently the SJHS Boys golf coach. In the 2012-13 season, his
golf team won 3 tournaments and finished in the top 5 in two others. Coach Lucas
married the former Mika Starbuck in May of 2012. In May of 2015, Coach Lucas
and his wife welcomed their first child, a little girl named Collins.
In his free time Coach Lucas enjoys playing sports, spending time with friends,
family, and most importantly, Mika. Coach Lucas also enjoys golfing (his wife was
a state champ golfer for Elk City).
