Stillwater vs Deer Creek Preview
A new era in Oklahoma high school football is guaranteed to bring something that hasn't happened in Class 6A since 1995, a
team other than Jenks or Tulsa Union will win a state championship in 2014.
With a restructured Class 6A, Stillwater is now in the new 6A Division 2. They will face the likes of Midwest City, Lawton, Lawton
Eisenhower, Enid, Putnam City West, Choctaw and U.S. Grant, rather than Jenks or Union.
The Pioneers return 55 players from last year's 2-8 campaign with 22 seniors, including a healthy Braxton Noble at quarterback.
Stillwater will open up against Deer Creek on Friday, Sept. 5. The Antlers finished with a 6-5 record last season, losing their first
round playoff game at Lawton MacArthur 34-29.
During the 2013 season, Deer Creek allowed 20 points per game while averaging 36, amassing more than 2,000 passing yards.
However, the Antlers also allowed almost 200 yards rushing per game.
The Pioneers will turn to senior running back Marlon McDonald, who will look to take advantage of Deer Creek's struggling rush
defense from a year ago.
Kickoff for Stillwater vs. Deer Creek is set for 7 p.m. on Friday night at Pioneer Stadium. Follow @StillwaterFB on Twitter for
