Pioneers Travel To Regional Competition
Pioneer football players will head out today for one of the most competitive 7on7 tournaments in the region. The Southwest Elite
7on7 takes place annually in Springdale, Arkansas and features many of the greatest passing teams in the area. Teams will
travel from Indiana, Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee to battle for the Elite title.
Stillwater Head Coach Tucker Barnard says "This is a great opportunity for us. The kids and coaches really enjoy this trip. There
is a lot of hard work ahead of us. We will play 7 games on Friday, but we will try to have some fun as well as have some time to
grow together as a team." Barnard continued that this overnight trip is a great bonding experience for players and coaches alike.
"We will play hard, we will eat good, we will hang out and be real casual with each other. It's just a great time. We kind of laugh
about "good football, good food, and good fellowship" but it's all true. We will be better for having taken the trip. We expect to be
very competitive - if we play with great effort, I have no doubt we will be pleased with our results."
Pioneer coaches are anxious to see top players Brandon Prather, Jordan Brown, Braxton Noble, Marlon McDonald III and
Cameron Mayberry, among others compete at this tournament. Barnard said, "This is a weekend where our best guys can see
how they stack up with some of the other best players in the entire region. Great teams from several states will be here. I can't
wait to see our guys respond to the challenge."
This is the last competition with other schools that the Pioneers will take part in before the season opening scrimmage at Bixby
High School on August 22nd.
